Shaw messed up our digital cable, the 100+ year-old house we live in is leaking like a sieve in this rain, and the crunch is on at work to get a new version of the software out before the end of the year.

I’m a little stressed.

On the plus side, al the contacts I’ve been waiting for have arrived. Only took 4 weeks. Bite me, Canada Post!

When my contacts order didn’t arrive on Monday, I placed another for 2 boxes, sent express. It arrived Friday. The big order, after almost 3 weeks, still has not.

But I’m wearing contacts again! I’m sooo happy!

According to this, once Bush gets out of office, he could be charged with war crimes. If that ever happens, I will laugh

I swear, there is a conspiracy against me getting contact lenses!

I ordered some online 2 1/2 weeks ago, and even though shipping said 8-11 business days, and today was the 11th day, no contacts. I’ve tried for the last week-and-a-half to find some locally, and only found out last week that there is some Canadian law saying you can’t get contacts until you have been “fitted” by the place you are trying to purchase from, and because I was trying on a weekend their fitter was not in.

I worked yesterday, so got today off in lieu, so I called my optometrist only to find out they didn’t have any in my size. I tried to get a fitting at another place. They didn’t call me back for 2 hours, and then when I called back they said try tomorrow. I NEED CONTACTS TODAY, DAMNIT! I have tried for the last two weeks because one of my last contacts was defective, and I thought it would last me several weeks. I’ve actually taken to wearing one contact for a couple hours at a time because I can’t stand wearing glasses, and it gives me a headache, but a different headache than wearing my glasses constantly.

Why the hell is it so hard to get contact lenses in Chilliwack?

I found this plugin for WordPress. Don’t know why WP didn’t have this ability to begin with. Personally, I would love it if my friends’ blogs would e-mail me if someone responded to my comment post, instead of requiring me to either sift through old post comments or just miss the response entirely.

I also mostly fixed the Gravatar plugin that broke the last time I edited my comments code.

Just an update on my week:

- My neck is fine. It didn’t get any worse, and I’m almost back to normal. Just some slight discomfort on the right.

- I got another raise! I’m now making 1/3 more than when I started, which is pretty darn good for almost 2 years experience. I’m so glad I finally have a job where they actually let me know I’m doing well, and show it with more than words.

- I ran out of disposable contact lenses and have been wearing my glasses for the last week while I’ve been waiting for more to arrive. I’ve found that these glasses mess with my depth perception, so I sometimes accidentally kick things when I walk, and I scraped my bumper on a parking divider at Metrotown.

- Oh, yeah: I went to a Microsoft TechNet event at Metrotown having to do with Windows XP Service Pack 2 deployment and a few other things. BO-RING! Oh well…I got paid for it, and got a free t-shirt out of the deal.

- On Puck’s advice, I installed a couple plugins (Kitten’s Spam Words and ThreeStrikesSPAM) on my blog to better handle the spam, which has trailed off. I also upgraded and put those plugins on wifey’s blog the day before she got hit.

This says it all.

Well, Bush Jr. has again squeaked into the White House.

I was going to rant about Americans not learning from their mistakes, and mention that experts say the voting machines weren’t secure, etc., but there’s no point. There’s lots of that out there. Google is your friend.

Instead, I will discuss what the Democrats did wrong:
They didn’t wear the white hat.

Let me explain: In the old days of black-and-white silent cowboy films, the bad guy always wore a black hat and the good guy the white hat. The black hatted varmint would do nasty, evil things and the good guy would shine through as an example of pure gentlemanly goodness.

Several people told me, “Better the devil you know than the devil you don’t.” That means that people saw Kerry as a devil, as bad as Bush? Lots of Americans were unhappy with Kerry’s senatorial record, and he flip-flopped on some issues during the campaign. Strange that he would be labeled a devil when Bush’s presidential record was horrible, and he out-and-out LIED many times to the American people.

This campaign has been one of the most vicious in American history. The Democrats had the chance to rise above it all and show their country what responsible leaders they could be, but they joined the mudflinging with gusto. When the black hat kicks you in the nuts, you don’t kick back; you get up, dust yourself off, and deliver a clean knock-out punch!

World opinion of the USA is at an all-time low because of Bush’s actions, and will only get worse because now all the disrespect he gave the United Nations members has been officially sanctioned by a majority of voting Americans. Fuck you, world…the yankees are comin’, and we have “the right God” on our side, so we can’t be wrong!

Bush barely won against Gore because Dubya had the charisma. Bush won this time by a slightly greater percentage, but not because Kerry was uncharismatic; it was because the American people were unsure of him. He wasn’t obviously the better choice.
The Democrats need to put forth their best in 2008. They need a white hat.

Because the dastardly man just got another 4 years to do his thing. Duck and cover!

I’m going to have to spend some time going through my comments after some fscking comment-spammer hit my blog. I thought I was lucky because all my friends’ blogs were hit but not mine…guess they just hadn’t gotten around to me.

Unfortunately, the antispam plugin that was recently installed only works on keywords. I never thought I would get poker spam!

Follow-up: Luckily 99% of the over-1000 spam posts came from the same e-mail address, so a quick SQL query and they were purged!
